The Part of Fortune—also known as Pars Fortunae or simply Fortuna—is one of the most significant Arabic Parts in astrology. Calculated using the positions of the Sun, Moon, and Ascendant, it represents the integration of your conscious self, emotional nature, and outward identity. This point reveals where your inner and outer worlds align most effortlessly—your natural path to happiness, fulfillment, and often, material or worldly success.
In traditional astrology, this formula, marked in charts as ⊕ or 🜿, depends on whether you were born during day or night: Ascendant + Moon – Sun for daytime births (Sun above horizon), and Ascendant + Sun – Moon for nighttime births (Sun below horizon).
Fortuna is also linked to innate talents or qualities that, when embraced, bring a greater sense of ease and purpose. Unlike planets, which express dynamic aspects of your psyche, the Part of Fortune shows where life tends to flow with grace—especially when body, mind, and spirit are aligned. More about the meaning of the Part of Fortune in your natal chart, here.
***
In relationship astrology, it can highlight how partners uplift each other’s joy, confidence, and sense of direction. It may show how one person supports the other’s gifts or inspires a deeper pursuit of meaning. Often, it reflects where mutual support creates shared happiness—or that rare feeling that things are simply “meant to be.”
Historically, Fortuna was considered a key indicator of prosperity—sometimes seen as equally important as the Sun, Moon, and Ascendant. In modern synastry, it adds a beautiful layer of resonance, especially in deep, long-term bonds.
Part of Fortune Synastry House Overlays
In synastry, the house the Part of Fortune falls into in the other person's chart reveals where they may feel uplifted by the relationship—and where shared happiness or success can blossom most easily.
The Part of Fortune can manifest as either material or spiritual fulfillment depending on its placement. In earth signs or practical houses (2nd, 6th, 10th), it often brings tangible success and stability, while in water signs or intuitive houses (4th, 8th, 12th), it tends toward emotional depth or spiritual connection. This helps explain why the house overlays that follow vary in their expression—some pointing toward shared material fortune, others highlighting emotional or spiritual alignment.
Who feels it more?. Typically the house person experiences the effects more directly in that area of life, while the Part of Fortune person brings the fortunate energy. However, the Part of Fortune person often also feels fulfilled and encouraged when engaging with the themes of that house together.

Synastry Aspects to the Part of Fortune
In synastry, conjunctions to the Part of Fortune are usually the strongest, often felt as direct activations of joy, ease, or a sense of shared purpose. Harmonious aspects like the trine and sextile can also bring blessings, emotional alignment, and mutual encouragement. Meanwhile, challenging aspects such as the square or opposition might still leave a meaningful imprint—but they tend to highlight contrast, tension, or differing life paths. These can bring growth and dynamism, but aren't always "easy." Inconjunct (quincunx) aspects may feel oddly out of sync or fated, and often require adjustment to uncover their deeper meaning.
That said, while these aspects can be intriguing, the Part of Fortune’s influence is usually secondary to major planetary dynamics in synastry. Its aspects—especially outside of conjunctions—often echo themes already present in the chart, rather than introducing entirely new ones. So while it's worth noticing, try not to get overwhelmed analyzing every minor link. Let Fortuna be a layer of insight, not a focal point.
Sun and Part of Fortune Synastry
The Sun person often energizes the Fortune person’s joy and life direction. There’s a shared sense of identity, pride, and vitality. This aspect brings natural charisma to the connection—together, the pair may feel more confident, expressive, and purposeful.
The Sun person may inspire the Fortune person to live more boldly and shine in their natural talents, encouraging them to step into their fullest potential.
Moon and Part of Fortune Synastry
This is one of the more comforting Fortuna aspects. The Moon person nurtures the Fortune person’s emotional world, helping them feel safe and seen. There may be an instinctive emotional alignment that makes joy flow naturally. The couple may find emotional healing, quiet satisfaction, or a sense of “home” together.
This is often a quietly joyful connection that supports inner peace. The Moon person may instinctively know how to soothe and support the Fortune person’s path, even during difficult times.
Personally, I somehow share strong Moon- Fortuna aspects in every meaningful relationship i've had.
Mercury and Part of Fortune Synastry
The Mercury person stimulates the Fortune person’s mind and adds lightness, curiosity, and humor to the relationship. Conversation flows easily, and mutual understanding feels almost telepathic.
Shared plans and ideas may lead to tangible success, especially when mental talents or communication skills are involved. This can be an excellent aspect for creative, entrepreneurial, or intellectual pairs.
Venus and Part of Fortune Synastry
The Venus person lights up the Fortune person’s sense of beauty and enjoyment. Together, they may indulge in love, art, music, or anything that feels luxurious. There's a soft glow of pleasure in the connection. Mutual affection comes easily, and the relationship often feels like a safe haven of grace and charm.
This aspect often enhances the shared aesthetic or romantic chemistry. Whether through shared hobbies, sensuality, or just feeling beautiful together, there’s often a sense that love itself is a source of good fortune.
Mars and Part of Fortune Synastry
This aspect brings vitality, ambition, and often a physical spark. The Mars person activates the Fortune person’s drive to go after what they want. Together, the couple may feel energized, motivated, and ready to take on challenges. If well-handled, this aspect can lead to joint success—but it needs healthy outlets, or it could spark competition or impatience.
If both are aligned, this can create a powerhouse couple that gets things done. There’s potential for mutual encouragement in pursuing passions—be it in business, fitness, or shared missions.
Jupiter and Part of Fortune Synastry
When Jupiter touches the Part of Fortune, expect joy, growth, and maybe even material blessings. Jupiter-Fortuna contacts stand out as particularly beneficial, even among other 'lucky' synastry aspects. There’s a spirit of generosity, encouragement, and optimism between you. Both people may feel that life gets better when they’re together—whether through travel, shared beliefs, or just good luck.
Jupiter brings warmth, generosity, and a belief in each other’s potential. The Fortune person may feel luckier, more optimistic, or more confident in this person’s presence. Together, you may create an environment where abundance and joy come easily.
Saturn and Part of Fortune Synastry
The Saturn person helps ground the Fortune person’s dreams into reality. While not always easy, this aspect often brings long-term potential. There may be a sense of responsibility and commitment to one another’s success. If both are willing to put in the effort, this connection can withstand the test of time—and be richly rewarding.
Saturn may initially feel like a “slower” influence on Fortuna, but over time it reveals its value. The Fortune person may come to appreciate the Saturn person’s guidance, structure, and loyalty.
Uranus and Part of Fortune Synastry
The Uranus person brings a spark of excitement and unpredictability to the Fortune person’s life. This can be a wildly inspiring aspect, where spontaneity and breakthroughs are common. Together, the pair may embrace an unconventional lifestyle or find success in unexpected ways. There’s freedom here—but it needs space to breathe.
This can bring sudden breakthroughs in each person’s life, especially around freedom, self-expression, or innovative thinking. The connection may be a catalyst for personal reinvention.
Neptune and Part of Fortune Synastry
This aspect can feel spiritual, artistic, or even fated. The Neptune person may awaken the Fortune person’s imagination or spiritual side. There’s potential for deep emotional or creative fulfillment—but also the need to stay grounded. It’s easy to get swept away by illusion or idealism, so clarity and communication are key.
There’s often a shared dream or subtle sense of spiritual connection. This aspect can awaken imagination, compassion, or even artistic talents. At best, it feels like you’re inspiring each other to reach for an ideal version of happiness—though grounding the dream may take conscious effort.
Pluto and Part of Fortune Synastry
Intense and powerful, this aspect can bring profound growth and shared evolution. The Pluto person may help the Fortune person access hidden strength, face fears, or radically shift their life direction. There’s potential for deep bonding and transformation—but also a risk of control struggles or emotional intensity.
It can feel like a connection that reshapes your very idea of happiness. While intense, this bond may unlock hidden reserves of strength, purpose, and emotional depth.
Chiron and Part of Fortune Synastry
The Chiron person touches the Fortune person’s emotional wounds, not to harm, but to help heal. This connection often feels tender and sacred. The journey may involve vulnerability and growth—but ultimately, there’s a sense that being together supports emotional wholeness and a quiet kind of happiness.
The relationship itself may serve as a turning point in how one (or both) people relate to happiness and self-worth. There’s a tender strength here—like helping each other see the beauty in past wounds. Chiron aspects can sometimes bring up old wounds before healing occurs, but the potential for growth is strong.
Orb Considerations for Part of Fortune in Synastry
Because the Part of Fortune is calculated using the Ascendant, having an accurate birth time is crucial. Small differences in time can shift this point dramatically. When analyzing synastry aspects to the Part of Fortune, tight orbs of 2–3° are recommended to ensure that the influence is meaningful. Wider orbs may be too subtle to feel in a lasting or recognizable way.
Who feels it More?
In synastry, it’s usually the Part of Fortune person who feels the connection more vividly. Since this point represents our personal path to joy and fulfillment, someone else’s planet or house touching it can feel like that person naturally supports or aligns with our sense of purpose. The Fortune person may feel lucky, seen, or even destined to connect with the other.
Still, the planet person is affected too—just more subtly. They often feel appreciated or at ease being themselves around the Fortune person. Without always knowing why, they may enjoy the connection and feel their qualities are welcomed or even celebrated.
In house overlays, the house person tends to feel the Fortune person brings ease or good energy into that life area. For example, if someone’s Fortuna falls in your 4th house, you might feel more emotionally safe or at home with them. Meanwhile, the Fortune person still experiences that house area as a place where happiness naturally flows when you’re together.
So while both people are impacted, the Fortune person feels a deeper sense of emotional or spiritual alignment, and the planet or house person feels seen, valued, or simply comfortable in the connection.
Fortuna in Synastry: Supportive, Not Essential
In synastry, when someone’s planet or angle touches another’s Part of Fortune—especially by conjunction—it often feels like things just click in that area. There can be an uplifting, easy-flowing vibe, like you support each other’s growth or just enjoy being together without trying too hard. But it’s subtle. The POF isn’t a planet with active energy—it’s a calculated point. So while its effects are real, they tend to feel more background or supportive rather than overwhelmingly intense. Think of it as a harmonizing influence that enhances what’s already working well, or adds a “right place, right time” feeling.
That said, if you don’t see prominent Part of Fortune connections in your synastry chart, it doesn’t mean your relationship will lack bliss! Other aspects—especially strong Jupiter or Venus contacts—can offer just as much, if not more, in terms of shared joy, support, and abundance. The flow of ease may simply come from different areas in the chart, reminding us that there are many paths to fulfillment in synastry. And don't forget to inspect your composite :)
